HOW TO AVAIL OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS (SPUTUM SMEAR POSITIVE)

Description: This service caters to walk-in and referred TB symptomatic for sputum smear animal bite patients after assessment of the bite site, to determine the category of exposure.

1  Client/s: Residents of Cebu City
2  Contact Person/s: Dr. Susan T. Adlawan, (032) 232-6969
3  Location: Barangay Health Centers of Cebu City
4  Availability: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM- 5: 00 PM and on Saturdays 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
5  Duration of the Service: 5 days & 14 minutes

7  Procedure in Availing the Service:

Follow these steps...

It will take...
1. Go to PHN/PHM’s table for interview Registers to the TB Symptomatics. PHN/PHM 5 min.
2. Get sputum cups for sputum collection and submit for sputum microscopy Gives 3 sputum cups w/ instructions PHN/PHM 2 min.
3. Return after 3-5 days (or as scheduled) for lab result After 3-5 days
If smear positive,

4. Proceed to the Medical Officer for physical assessment/prescription of appropriate category of treatment
Assesses and treats patients MO 2 min.
5. Go back to PHN/PHM for registration and treatment (TB registry) Registers in the TB registry PHN/PHM 2 min.
6. Take the first dose of anti-TB drugs under the supervision of a treatment partner Gives the first dose of the anti-TB drugs PHN/PHM 2 min.
7. Return daily to HC for 6-8 mos. until declared cured Instructs patients to come to the HC daily for the anti-TB drugs PHN/PHM 1 min.
