Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama together with City Traffic Operations Management Executive Director Atty. Rafael Yap, Engr. Rolando Ardosa of the General Services Office, Asst. City Administrator Atty. Dominic Dino, City Agriculturist Joelito Baclayon and a representative from the Public Information Office discussed the procedure for its removal.

As part of its beautification project, the city has renovated some of its streets and the lamp posts which are no longer functioning have already become an eyesore. To address this concern, CITOM) requested the Office of the Ombudsman to endorse its concern to Sandiganbayan on its assessment to remove the lamp posts within the jurisdiction of the city which in some way has obstructed the sidewalks.

Last March 2, 2012, the Office of the Ombudsman, Quezon City answered positively on the said concern subject to the compliance of the conditions set forth therein.

The Office of the City Administrator and GSO will take care of all the documents relative to the inventory taking and the COA report, including the list of names of persons who participated in the inventory and the photographs taken therein be submitted to Ombudsman, Quezon City.

The replacement and rehabilitations of plants near the removed lamp posts will be taken cared of by the CAD.

The Public Information Office (PIO) headed by Mr. Florito “Carlo” Dugaduga will be in charge with the documentation (video) of the removal of the lamp posts with copies of it and a report be submitted to the office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City.

The Ombudsman has also mandated the city to store the lamp posts in a secure and sheltered facility in order to ensure their availability for viewing, if and when the same will be required.
