The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries and Abattoir Operations Division (DVMF) presented their February 2012 Accomplishments together with Public Health Division, Animal Health Division and Fishery Division signed by Alice T. Utlang, the City Veterinarian.
Dr. Utlang completely stated the accomplishments of their department during the month of February 2012. These includes the following: income report, number of animals slaughtered in CCMA, accredited Abattoirs, hot meat report and condemnation report by Public Health Division; from Animal Health Division, they accomplished the animal control program and rabies control program. Lastly, the Fishery Division passed also their accomplishment report for the month of February 2012.
DVMF highlighted their accomplishments in February 2012 from the three divisions: the Public Health Division has an income of P 135,325.00 in renewal of Accreditation and Licensing of the Meat Stall Holders, Meat Shop Operators and etc. A new dressing plant was opened at Talamban area owned by Dennis Caminade. They actively participated in the Charter Day activities where meat inspector Ms. Anita Maureal won the 2nd place of the essay writing contest. The Animal Health Division conducted a whole day Rabies Forum last February 20, 2012 at the SP Social Hall. This was attended by more or less 100 participants from different barangays composed of barangay Captains and officials. They also successfully organized a Spay and Neuter activity held at Lapu-Lapu City as part of Big Brother Program of Cebu City Government. Moreover, there were four (4) donations of dog catching nets for use in the humane way of impounding strays at barangays Zapatera, Lorega San Miguel, Quiot and Lahug. In their Livestock Disease Control Program, they apparently conducted vaccination at mountain barangays namely Binaliw, Sinsin, Sudlon I, Sudlon II, Babag and Kalunasan with 359 farmers. There were also given free Hemorrhagic Septicemia, dewormed, multivitamins and animals treated.
Lastly, the Fisheries Division disseminated the Red Tide info booklets and leaflets to resellers and consumers. The division also attended Cebu City Bantay Dagat Commission (CCBDC) regular meeting at Kawit, SRP last February 23, 2012. They also conduct routine ocular inspection of different aqua-marine products from different market sources.
