Mayor Michael Lopez Rama showed support for the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines or SCAP and the Cebuano Youth Ambassadors or CYA.

Bearing the theme, "STRAW Alert: Ensuring Student's Rights in Campuses and Local Advocacy Drive," the SCAP and CYA conducted a Local convention held at Sinulog Hall , of Cebu City Rizal Museum Library and Museum Building last September 1, 2012.

Mayor Rama in his message said that he will continue to support the initiatives of the young leaders for as long as it is for the welfare of the students, the people and the country. The Mayor also shared his experiences as a leader and urged everyone to live life to the fullest, to pray without ceasing and make things happen. He further elaborated that the Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. ''I pray that one day you will be succesful in your chosen career, whatever it may be, whatever God wants you to be and whatever fate and destiny will lead you to be," Mayor Rama underscored.

The Mayor imparted the ten keys to gain inner strength such as, determine what you want and what you have to give in return, keep your mindopen for guidance from within, accept your defeat, be positive, define your purpose in life, associate with people who have the same goal as yours, work for the attainment of your goal, choose self-reliant and courageous person as your pacemaker, build an atmosphere of prosperity and achievement, and face unpleasant circumstances. There is nothing in this world so much admired as a man who knows how to bear unhappiness and failures with courage, the Mayor ended.

The activity was attended by hundreds of youth leaders coming from 18 different Colleges and Universities in Cebu. The young leaders in Cebu aims for the passage of the Student's Rights and Welfare Bill.
