For executing a commendable service of running the city of Cebu, Mayor Michael Lopez Rama received the ‘Gold Medal of Merit’ from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Cebu Council this morning following the flag ceremony, November 12 at Plaza Sugbo, Cebu City Hall.
The national award was conferred by the council chairman, Hernando Streegan. It was given to the mayor as the highest chief running the city through the local Council Executive Board in Cebu upon the recommendation of its National Court of Honor for meritorious and outstanding service rendered to the organization.
Imelda Rodriguez, field scout executive, said that they have been awarding Mayor Michael Rama the Bronze medal of merit since 2000 when he was still a councilor, and also awarded the Silver medal last 2006 when he became the vice-mayor of the city.
The Cebu City government has been supporting the Cebu Council of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines financially and with projects that enhances the prestige of the organization.
After the ceremony, Mayor Rama reminded all City Hall employees of the values which are lived by the Boy Scouts such as honesty, courteousness, obedience, humility, and reverence. He also advised them to practice cleanliness in their offices and transactions as this is next to ‘Godliness,’ and a characteristic of a good government employee.
