Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama hopes to promote international comity and mutual cooperation among the business sector in Canada with the launching of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Cebu City.
The Mayor said that he is happy to welcome the Canadian Chamber and to always keep in mind that service to humanity comes first. He hopes that there will be mutual benefit between the two countries bringing in more investments from Canada as well as trading exports.
According to Canadian Consulate Robert Lee, the Cebu Chapter of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce would soon be launched by the early part of next year.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines has been located in Manila for 21 years now, and Lee explained that it is about time that they explore their opportunities in Cebu City.

Georget also added that the trustees appointed two Cebu residents as members of their chamber of commerce in order to include a Cebuano perspective in their organization.
Their mission statement emphasizes promotion of trade between the Philippines and Canada particularly the Cebuanos. As of this time, the representatives from the Canadian Chamber are finalizing the legal work and are coordinating with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce in order to finalize their launching next year.
