City Civil Registrar implements digitization project

(PIO CEBU CITY) - In order to ensure the security and speed-up the processing of documents, the Office of Cebu City Civil Registrar implemented its digitization project.

The 15M project, which started in April this year, is funded by the City Government and undertaken by the UBIX Corporation. It is expected to be completed by December this year. The project is aimed to facilitate the quick processing of various documents such as certificates in birth, death, marriage, adoption papers among others.

In an interview with BARUGG, Atty. Evangeline T. Abatayo, City Civil Registrar, underscored, “I’m happy that this recurrent request has finally started. It will pave the way to easily access vital information once needed and facilitate a smooth flow in processing documents.”

“However there is no increase in payments for our services and the archive documents will be preserved for verification,” she added.

Mayor Rama meets informal settlers

Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama met the leaders of informal settlers in Cebu City last June 2, 2011 at the Mayor’s Conference Hall.

Various concerns were aired out concerning relocation site, financial assistance, filing of case and the continuous dismantling of shanties of the informal dwellers located along the danger zones.

“Our administration is focusing on real public service and setting aside politics. I will just do what I ought to do, hoping and praying that sooner or later you will realize that what I am doing is not for me but for the benefits of the majority,” Mayor Rama emphasized.

OSCA organizes Barrio Fiesta

The Cebu City Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) organized a barrio fiesta last May 30, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Center along Jakosalem Street, Cebu City.

Mayor Michael L. Rama, in his inspirational message, underscored, “We need to show off what we have, and life is too short. We never know when we will face death thus, we need to enjoy, be active and enlightened to change the mentality of self-pity among seniors. I congratulate the organizers for making this kind of activity. If all senior citizens are properly tapped, together we can make things happen.”

Human Soul conducts exhibit

(PIO CEBU CITY) - Human Soul, an organization of gays, lesbian, and transgender conducted a multimedia exhibit on the fight against discrimination. The event was launched on June 6 at the Social Hall of the Legislative building of Cebu City Hall and lasted until June 10. The exhibit was open to everyone.

The group aimed to gain sympathy and support from the public to fight for their rights on gender discrimination and to strengthen AIDS and HIV awareness.

On June 13-17, the exhibit is set for another public viewing in Alliance Francaise de Cebu. More schedules to follow in Manila and Davao in the coming months.

Mayor’s staff undergo training

(PIO CEBU CITY) - The staff of Mayor Michael Rama attended a training seminar on Protocol and Social Etiquette last June 3, 2011 at the Caucus Room of the Legislative Building in Cebu City Hall.

Mr. Angel H. Espiritu II of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Region 7 served as the speaker and trainor for the half day activity.

The event was organized by Mr. Angel Espiritu I who initiated and proposed to Mayor Mike prior to the date of the training. The training seminar was attended by twenty staff in the Office of the Mayor aiming to enhance their knowledge on the standards for entertaining guests especially from other countries and in various occasions.
