As the National Thanksgiving Day for San Pedro Calungsod is coming exactly 25 days from now, Cebu City Mayor Michael Lopez Rama wants to heightened the safety and security for everyone before, during and after the activity.

San Pedro Calungsod was canonized by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI last October 21, 2012 at the St. Peter's Square Vatican City, in Rome, Italy. He is believed to be a native of Ginatilan Town in Cebu and the second Filipino declared as Saint next to San Lorenzo Ruiz.

The safety and security group have laid out precautionary measures and in order to let the devotees realize for that day that SRP area is like a church to observe a solemn celebration. Thus, no bringing in of alcohol and radio sets is allowed, people should be dressed appropriately (wear flat and comfortable shoes, light clothing, but no short shorts , etc.), bring water, leave jewelry at home, bring folding chairs / stools, bring umbrellas or a hat for shelter, wear sun block, bring money to buy additional beverages or food ( they will be available at designated areas).

Moreover, there will be security cameras that will be installed with 5 access points courtesy of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone company (PLDT), Six firetrucks will be stand-by, and K9 dogs will also be utilized, along with security personnel that will be stationed. To stimulate everything in taking the big activity seriously, a dry run will be conducted on November 18.
