There can be no real Kausaban if we neglect our ecologies and fail to establish well-designed sustainable systems, said Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella.
This was the message of Mayor Labella when he presented the 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan of the Cebu City Government (SWMP) to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Iloilo City, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
“I am joining the hardworking assistant head of CENRO, environmental planner Rick Enolpe, and our environmental management specialist Engr. Glory Rose Manatad, in presenting our policy directives and guidelines for Cebu City’s SWMP,” said Mayor Labella.
Lapu-lapu City Mayor Ahong Chan has also presented his city’s SWMP.
For Cebu City, there are three immediate practices to set to motion: to reduce landfill use while increasing proper trash sorting, to pursue the relentless implemention of our eco-friendly ordinances, and to improve our material recovery facilities at the barangay level.
“To echo what Atty. John Jigo Dacua writes in his message introducing our 10-Year plan: Let’s work together and give green a chance — starting with the proper sorting and processing of our trash,” said Mayor Labella.
