CEBU CITY, Philippines – Secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) bared plans to extend their services in the barangay levels in the entire country.
Andanar who is the keynote speaker in the Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN)– PCOO Roadshow in Cebu this morning March 3, 2017 Friday said their office will further strengthen its services to serve every Filipinos and make government thru the Public Information Agency visible even to those in the far-flung areas.
“Our vision is to have PIA in every barangay to focus on the on-ground communications with the people to be relevant to everyone to every Filipino,” Andanar pointed out, citing that it help in communicating the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the policies of the government and maximize government resources.
In the meantime, in order to provide easy access to information about ASEAN and the Philippines, the PCOO also officially launched PIA Information Kiosk at the Mactan Cebu International Airport in the afternoon of the same day.
They will also put up the same Kiosk in every airports and terminals nationwide for easy access and convenience of the public and the arriving ASEAN delegates.
ASEAN sub-meetings are set in April this year in Cebu and Bohol.
Meanwhile, the big event in Cebu today is the fourth leg after the roadshows in the cities of Davao, Zamboanga and Baguio.
Secretary Andanar also revealed that the Roadshow will continue even beyond ASEAN to bring their services closer to everyone all over the country.
Freedom of Information, Use of New Media Communications for Participatory Governance and Creation of the Presidential Task Force on Violations of the Right to Life, were among the topics discussed in the plenary.
Over a thousand delegates participated in the Roadshow in Cebu. These include information officers all throughout Central Visayas Region, City and Municipal including Barangay Officials, members of the mainstream media as well as bloggers, businessmen and private sector representatives, community leaders, uniformed personnel and members of the academe.
As part of the activity a Kapihan sa PIA media forum was also conducted. At least two Focused Group Discussions were conducted in the afternoon session to further engaged the audience on the developments of the Duterte Administration wrapping up the roadshow in Cebu.
