CEBU CITY, Philippines - The City Government of Cebu headed by Mayor Tommy Osmeña thru its City Agriculture Department (CAD) distributed Farm Inputs and Swine to the different Farmer's Organizations in Cebu City's Mountain Barangays on March 7, 2017 Tuesday held at the Cebu City Resource Management and Development Center (CREMDEC) located in Barangay Taptap.
“Ato gyong ehatag ang tabang sa mga mag-uuma labi na kadtong naapektuhan sa landslides, mao ni ang tinguha sa Cebu City Government nga gidumala ni Mayor Tomas Osmeña,” said Deputy Mayor on Agriculture, Cebu City Councilor Alvin Arcilla who represented Mayor Osmeña during the activity.
Arcilla likewise urged the farmers to continue good agricultural practices and share the new technologies and ways in yielding better crops and harvests to their fellow farmers, adding that if they have concerns just do not hesitate to visit him in his office or in the CAD.
CAD head Apple Tribunalo, for her part, underscored that the fertilizers and seeds of various vegetables and fruits, and also piglets are of great help to the farmers to augment their harvest and income.
Ofelia Pestano from Barangay Sirao and one of the beneficiaries shared, “Dako among pasalamat nga gihatagan mi og kaayohan. Dako kayo ni og tabang namo kaysa mopalit pa mi og seeds og fertilizers og baboy kini karon at least nay gihatag sa among organization.”
“Nanghinaot mi nga magpadayon ni atong programa alang sa kalampusan natong tanan og sa kaayohan sa 60 ka Farmer’s Organizations,” Emilio Secretarya, President of the Cebu City Farmer’s Federation also shared.
The activity was also graced by Joel Elumba, Regional Technical Director of the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 7, Cebu City Councilor Joy Augustos Young, and other officers of various Farmer’s Organizations in Cebu City. (By: Greggy P. Senados/ City of Cebu, Public Information Office)
