CEBU CITY, Philippines - In line with the Philippines and Japan Friendship celebration this year, a Japanese Summer Festival is set in the Queen City of the South.

Dubbed as “Bon Odori” the Japanese Summer Festival is set on May 27-28 Saturday and Sunday in the Sugbu Grounds of the city’s South Road Properties (SRP).

Bon Odori in Cebu is now on its Fourth Year but already celebrated in Japan several years ago.

During the 2-day event, various gimmickries and fun-filled activities will be conducted such as Japanese Food Park, Live Mochi Making, Karate Demo, Cosplay Contest, Yukata Contest, Karaoke Contest, Candy Shower, Raffle prizes, Fire Dance and Drums, and Fireworks Display, among others.

The event will be ticketed and pegged at P20.00 each as Entrance Fee per person. Tickets can be bought in the Entrance Area of the venue. Gates will open at 3PM both for day 1 and day 2.

There will be free shuttle buses from Plaza Independencia and SM Seaside City to and from the SRP Sugbu Grounds from time to time.

Moreover, this year is the 61st anniversary since the Philippines and Japan Diplomatic relations has been settled. Everyone is also enjoined to partake in the activities. (By: Greggy P. Senados/ City of Cebu, Public Information Office)
