CEBU CITY, Philippines – The Cebu Regional Evacuation Center will soon rise in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

This, as the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Central Office allocated 32 Million Pesos for the proposed project that will soon rise in the 3,000 square meters lot owned by the Central Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Cebu.

Cebu City Disaster Officer Harold Alcontin shared during the 36th regular meeting of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC) on Monday this week that the Cebu Regional Evacuation Center is a go project already.

Alcontin emphasized that the Cebu Regional Evacuation Center which will be a 5-storey building will rise inside the 2.6-hectare lot 1225 in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

During the said meeting, Alcontin also reported that land survey, coordination meeting among stakeholders, profiling for affected families and structures, among others are already set in the coming days.

“The project will be funded by OCD and will be constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),” Alcontin emphasized, adding that it is also supported by the Cebu City and Provincial Governments and the AFP Central Command.

Once completed the Cebu Regional Evacuation Center can accommodate more than 200 Families in one setting and suited for evacuation area in case of mass casualty incident.
