CEBU CITY, Philippines - At least more then five hundred constituents from the different Barangays in Cebu City benefited in the 'Agak ni Guardo' program of Cebu City Councilor Jerry Guardo.
The program helps those who have difficulty in walking by availing the wheelchairs and canes or walking sticks for free.
The wheelchairs and canes are sponsored by a certain Japanese National Haruo Iwanaga of Mizuki Enterprises through the effort of Councilor Guardo.
Benjamin Yap, 62, from Barangay Parian, and one of those who availed of a cane or walking stick shared that the program is of great help especially to the less fortunate who cannot afford to buy one.
"Nagpasalamat gyod mi ni Kosehal Guardo nga nitabang siya sa mga kabus, sama nako na nahatagan og sungkod aron dili nako maglisod og lakaw, (We really thanked Councilor Guardo that he help us the less fortunate, like me who receive a cane so that I can walk well now)" Yap further shared.
In an interview with Councilor Guardo, he underscored that he is doing the program since he was Village Chief of Barangay Sambag 1.
"Ive been doing this since I was a Barangay Captain and felt the need to continue this program in order to help more Cebuanos who has difficulty in walking," the young Councilor enthuses.
The program is continuously making a marked difference to hundreds of Cebuanos. The fifth batch of distribution was held at the lobby of Legislative Building in Cebu City Hall today June 23, 2017 Friday. (By: Greggy P. Senados/ City of Cebu, Public Information Office)
