Harold Alcontin, head for operations of CCDRRMC, said that, "The purpose for this Camp Coordination and Camp Management Training is for our Disaster Council members and operatives get acquainted on the protocols and international standards in disaster operations especially in evacuation center."
"Kung naay sunog dili na ta kinahanglan pa manawag sa ubang Departments nga motabang, kung walay suga og portalet ang Evacuation Center automatic na unta ang Department of Public Services nga mobuhat sa ilang trabaho dili kay manawag pa ta nila kung asa sila," he explained.
Brigida Tampus Goron, DSWD-7's Cebu Provincial Link imparted her knowledge and expertise on DSWD DRRM and CCCM Guidelines during the first day of the training.
Goron also emphasized that Disaster concerns especially during evacuation is not just the work of Disaster Operatives and Department of Social Welfare and Services personnel but a collaboration and coordination of all Departments comprising a Local Government and the village officials, among others.
Christine Escolano, training specialist II/human resource management officer II of DSWD Regional Office 7 facilitated the simulation and application of theory and international standards in case of an earthquake, landslide, flash-flood, typhoon and fire incident will occur using a miniature.
For his part, Nagiel Bañacia, head of CCDRRMC, said that "We do not wish for disaster to happen but at least our Disaster Council members and operatives are trained for Camp Coordination and Camp Management."
