CEBU CITY, Philippines – In order to give an ample time and space for the city’s partners in progress and development, the City Government of Cebu thru its Mayor’s Office and the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) will hold the processing for renewal and new application of Mayor’s Business Permit for the year 2018 in the Ground Floor of Robinsons Galleria Cebu which will start on January 3 and will last until January 26.

The processing of the Mayor's Business Permit will start at 9 o’clock in the morning until 6 o’clock in the evening from Monday to Saturday except on January 20 which is a Vesperas for the 453rd Fiesta Señor celebration.

In an interview with the Public Information Office, acting city treasurer Veronica Morelos encouraged the businessmen to renew their business permits within the scheduled date to avoid the two percent (2%) interest and Twenty-five percent (25%) surcharge and penalties.

Morelos shared that clients will be catered on a first come first served basis following a computerized queuing management system.

The CTO chief also underscored that there are only three steps in the renewal of Mayor's Business Permit such as (1) Evaluation and Assessment; (2) Payment; and (3) Verification and Release.

For the Step 1 which is Evaluation and Assessment, the requirements are the following, (1) Filled-up Application Form; (2) Financial Documents such as but not limited to: Sales Journal; Certificate of Gross Sales issued by the Lessor (for Mall Tenants); Monthly/Quarterly VAT / Percentage Returns; Annual Income Tax Return and Comparative Financial Statement of preceding year; (3) Old Business Permit; (4) Original Barangay Clearance w/ Official Receipt; (5) Certificate of Property Holdings, if Lessor; (6) Real Property Tax Clearance, if Owned; (7) Contract of Lease, if Renting.

For the Step 2 which is Payment, the only required is the official receipt of payment of Taxes and the Fees due.

For the Step 3 which is the Verification and Release, the requirements are, (1) All requirements in Steps 1 and 2; (2) CTC of Business and Employees; (3) Sanitary Permit; (4) Fire Safety Inspection Certificate; (5) Occupational Permit; (6) CCENRO Certificate; and (7) Other requirements as may be required by the Verifier depending on the nature of the business

The CTO will conduct tax mapping and will send notices to business establishments who will not renew their Mayor’s Business Permits especially the delinquent ones.

To recall, this year, the city closed some business establishments who do not have Mayor's Business Permit and did not pay their taxes well, among other violations.

Meanwhile, aside from the renewal of Mayor's Business Permit, the services at the Robinson's Galleria also include the new application for New Mayor’s Business Permit, Retirement of Business Operations, Application for Special and Delivery Permits, and also Cedula issuance for business permit purposes only, however Cedula issuance for other purposes will be available at the Cebu City Hall.

City Hall employees will be deployed to accommodate the operators, owners or representatives of the more than Thirty thousand business establishments from the city’s eighty (80) Barangays. They will be on a shifting duty and will observe a no lunch break policy in a one-stop services at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Robinsons Galleria Cebu is located along General Maxilom Avenue Extension in the Cebu City North Reclamation Area just a few meters away from SM City Cebu. This is also the 2nd time that the venue of the processing of new application and renewal of Mayor's Business Permit will be held at Robinsons Galleria.

Moreover, from January 3-26 there will be no processing of Mayor’s Business Permit in Cebu City Hall but those who wanted to renew or apply for Mayor’s business permit after the said scheduled date at Robinsons Galleria are advised to transact only at the City Treasurer’s Office in Cebu City Hall.
