CEBU CITY, Philippines - "Dako among pasalamat ni Mayor Tommy Osmeña nga adunay ingon niini nga programa kay dako ni og tabang sa katawhan labi na sa mga kabus,(We are thankful to Mayor Osmeña because there is a program like this, as it is really of great help to the people especially the less fortunate),” shared Miralyn Cueva, 37, a native of Barangay Cambinocot, this city.
Cueva together with her 2 year-old son who availed of medical consultation, were among the 643 individuals who availed of the free services thru the ‘Serbisyong Sugbuanon’ program of Mayor Osmeña held at Barangay Cambinocot Gymnasium today January 26 Friday.
To recall, the program was launched during the 80th Charter Anniversary of Cebu City on February 24, 2017 held at the Plaza Sugbo and was brought to the different barangays starting in the last quarter of 2017.
Looking back, last December 18, 2017 residents of Barangays Sudlon 1, Sudlon 2, and Sinsin availed of the program held at the Gymnasium of Barangay Sudlon 1.
With the aim to bring the basic services from the Twenty-Three (23) Departments and various Frontline offices comprising the Cebu City Government closer to the people and avail it for free, the program is implemented by clustering the nearby barangays and held once in a month.
At least residents of Barangay’s Cambinocot, Lusaran, Paril and Mabini availed of the free services today.
The free services included Medical and Dental Services by City Health; Birth, Marriage and Death certificates consultation by Civil Registrar; Repair and Installation of Street Lights and Artesian Wells by Public Services; Cedula issuance by City Treasurer; Seedling distribution by City Agriculture; Pet registration and vaccination by DVMF; Free haircut and massage by DMDP; Drainage and Road Maintenance by DEPW and many more.
Also rendered services were Consultation, blood typing, blood sugar testing, and internal medicine distribution by CCMC and Long Life Program; Information dissemination and documentation by PIO; and Disaster Prevention and First Aid Training by CCDRRMO, Feeding Program by DSWS; assistance for the elderly by OSCA; and hospitalization assistance by CHAMP, among several others.
During the activity, City Councilor Mary Ann Delos Santos who is the Deputy Mayor on Health Services graced the event together with other department heads and assistant department heads and heads of various offices.
Councilor Delos Santos thanked those who supported the program and encouraged everyone to take advantage of the rare opportunity where government services are already delivered to them instead of the people going to Cebu City Hall.
