Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña together with City Officials led the ground breaking ceremonies for the construction of the Cebu City Skateboard Park located at the back of Fort San Pedro recently.
City Councilor Eugenio "Jun" Gabuya said that the entire project will cost 15 million pesos so there will be two phases of the project.
They will first work on the 5 million peso donation from Ms. Minnie Osmeña for the phase 1 construction of the project which will include the obstacle course where the skateboarders can practice their tricks and routines.
After the phase 1 construction, Ms. Minnie will turn over the park to the Cebu City Government and will start with the phase 2 project which will be for the oval of the park.
Gabuya also said, they will be forming a committee for the skate park later on and may collect fees for the purpose of maintaining the place.

Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) officially launched the Mahiga River Park.
CCENRO Head Nida Cabrera said that the park is Cebu City's contribution to the International River Summit. She added that the area where the park is situated used to be a dumping site. They were even able to collect around 50 tons of garbage.
Cabrera proudly said that the Mahiga River Park used eco-pavers from broken glasses as walkway. Benches were also made from eco-bricks.
The park was turned over to the Cebu City Parks and Playground Commission for the maintenance of the ornamental plants and to Barangay Mabolo since it is under their jurisdiction. ( Jessa L. Celocia/PIO)
