Five DVMF Meat Inspectors Commended
- Details
The Cebu City Government through Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee of the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) commends six (6) meat inspectors from the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF) for condemning a whole carcass of pig due to erysipelas.
Erysipelas is an infectious disease found mainly in growing pigs and characterized clinically by a sudden death, fever, skin lesions and arthritis. If left undetermined, this disease can contaminate human consumers causing the same disease.
And because of the quick action and alertness of these meat inspectors, the possible spread of disease to consumers was intercepted. The carcass was condemned and the slaughterhouse was disinfected. The specimen was buried.
The employees who were commended include Inocencio Nadal Jr.; Sergio Mariano Baguio; Casandra Dilao; Benifredo Gaviola Jr.; Renante Capule; and Elvin Esgana.
They were awarded with certificates by City Veterinarian Dr. Alice Utlang and HRDO Officer-in-Charge Atty. Mario Calvo. (Jessa L. Celocia/PIO)
