The Cebu City government, represented by Mayor Mike Rama, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Cebu Contractors’ Association (CCA) and North Reclamation Area Land Owners Association (NRALOA) for the repair of the roads in NRA, particularly along J.L. Briones St. 3rd Avenue and J. Devera St.
The city government will clear and demolish illegal structures with the Squatters Prevention Encroachment Elimination Division (SPEED) to facilitate the removal of settlers.
The CCA will provide the necessary facilities, machineries and heavy equipment needed and provide base materials that will be taken from the lot of Dy at Binaliw, this city.
The Commission on Audit (COA) has advised the Cebu City government to seek the return of the P1 million it released as financial assistance to the Supreme Court “so that it could be used for other basic services of the city.”
Auditors said the allocation of the Local Gov’t. Unit (LGU)-Judiciary Equalization Fund (JEF) duplicates the monthly allowances the city already provides the judges.
COA also fears possible waste of funds from the city’s failure to maximize the use of the five-storey condominium in barangay Sambag I which it built from a P24 million loan.
