Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) officially launched the Mahiga River Park.
CCENRO Head Nida Cabrera said that the park is Cebu City's contribution to the International River Summit. She added that the area where the park is situated used to be a dumping site. They were even able to collect around 50 tons of garbage.
Cabrera proudly said that the Mahiga River Park used eco-pavers from broken glasses as walkway. Benches were also made from eco-bricks.
The park was turned over to the Cebu City Parks and Playground Commission for the maintenance of the ornamental plants and to Barangay Mabolo since it is under their jurisdiction. ( Jessa L. Celocia/PIO)
