The Cebu City Government through the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) in coordination with the Department of General Services (DGS), Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the city’s Barangay Fire Brigades will start the rationing of water to affected residential areas in the city today.
This was agreed upon after the coordination meeting held early this morning, identifying the 19,800 affected residential areas or household from the different barangays based on the MCWD data.
The city will get the water supply in selected fire hydrants around the city and from Mactan Rock Industries. There were 40 identified fire trucks and water tankers that would distribute the water in the affected barangays. Eight of these fire trucks are from BFP, 4 water tankers from the city, 25 fire trucks from the different barangays, and 3 water tankers from MCWD.
Deputy Mayor for Police Matters and Public Order Hon. Dave Tumulak, emphasized that residential areas are given top priority and urged private companies to get their water supply elsewhere.
Considering the traffic, Councilor Tumulak asked the residents to line up one hour before the scheduled time of water rationing in their respective areas.
Residents who are experiencing water supply interruption may call the City's Command Center (CCC) through telephone numbers; 166 & 2621424 or mobile numbers 09471780000 & 09325377770 stating their full name, exact address and the water interruption schedule in their area.
